Why I Started The Story Begins

The Story Begins was inspired by the most life-changing experience of my life: becoming a dad.

After months of excitement and anticipation, my wife and I couldn't wait to meet our little girl. We had experienced a healthy pregnancy and expected the delivery to be the joyful moment every new parent dreams about.

Instead, moments after she was born, everything changed.

Alarms began ringing, and doctors and nurses rushed into the room, taking our daughter from my wife's chest before we had even had the chance to truly meet her. We were told she had fluid in her lungs and needed immediate medical attention. In an instant, what should have been the happiest moment of our lives became one filled with fear, uncertainty, and countless questions.

The next few days were spent making the walk from our hospital room to the NICU, holding onto hope with every visit. Thankfully, our daughter grew stronger each day. The machines slowly disappeared, and before long, we were finally able to bring her home.

That experience changed us forever.

People always tell you that you'll love your children more than anything in the world. You hear those words countless times, but you can never truly understand them until you have a child of your own. The love is impossible to describe.

Once we settled in at home, reality quickly set in. Sleepless nights, endless diaper changes, bottle feeds, laundry, sterilizing bottles, tummy time, cuddles, and learning how to navigate life as new parents quickly became our new normal. At the same time, our home filled with incredible gifts from friends and family. Clothes, blankets, toys, and everything a newborn could possibly need.

As grateful as we were, something stood out to me.

One day, sitting in our daughter's nursery, I looked around at all the thoughtful gifts that surrounded us. The clothes would soon be outgrown. The toys would eventually be replaced. Many of those wonderful gifts would slowly disappear into drawers, closets, and storage bins.

Those were the gifts that caught my eye every time I walked into the room. They weren't just presents — they were reminders of this incredible chapter in our lives and of the people who celebrated it with us.

That's when the idea for The Story Begins was born.

I wanted to create something that wasn't just another baby gift. I wanted to create something families would proudly display on their bookshelf, read together for years to come, and eventually pass down to the child it was created for. A keepsake that grows in meaning with every passing year.

Today, many of our friends and family are beginning this same journey into parenthood. My hope is that every new family receives a gift that captures this unforgettable chapter in their lives — a gift that doesn't get packed away or outgrown, but instead becomes part of their family's story forever.

Because every family has a story.

And every great story deserves a beautiful beginning.
